James has been part of TSSM’s English team since 2025 and has taken up opportunities to teach English to many students. This has provided him with the chance to quickly develop as an English teacher, leading his students towards impressive study scores.

James has been teaching since 2023, and has been tutoring for many years before. He is extremely knowledgeable, which gives him the ability to simplify difficult topics helping his students achieve exceptional results throughout their journey.

James is a motivated teacher who makes use of available resources to enhance and improve his teaching abilities so his students can continue to excel.

At TSSM, James also plays an important role in producing high quality resources in English.

Teaching Philosophy:

Mr. Torpy empowers VCE English students to achieve their academic goals by guiding the annotation of texts, writing and explaining models and providing specific, targeted feedback. Through leading students in examining and constructing texts, students will gain the capabilities to become literate, critical and creative young adults.
