Students will be given specific instructions on all Unit 3 Areas of Study including; Brain and Nervous System; Visual Perception; and States of Consciousness.
Program Structure:
Our Psychology 12 Week Intensive Target Classes are structured into two distinct parts:
Part 1 - Week 1: Held over two days (6 hours in total)
The Advanced Blueprint to VCE Success seminar; designed to develop the skills and strategies necessary for students to become more efficient learners and more focused on achieving their goals.
Part 2 - Weeks 2 to 11: 2 hours per week for 10 weeks (20 hours)
Students will be given a progressive and detailed revision of the subject content. The examinable topics will be addressed systematically and students will complete examination style questions weekly. A week by week description for the Psychology Intensive Target Classes is shown below:

Visual Perception: Visual perception; Responses to light and the concept of thresholds; The interactive nature of reception; Transduction; Transmission and interpretation; Organisations in visual perception as evidenced in art; signs and symbols; Gestalt principles; Depth perception and Visual constancies. |
| Week 7 |
Area of Study 2 |
Visual Perception: The effect of contact and past experience on perception through perectual set; Distortions of visual perception as demonstrated by visual illusions; Muller-Lyer and Ames-Room; and Research method in visual perception. |

States of Consciousness: Definitions of consciousness; James’ description of streams of consciousness; Characteristics of normal waking consciousness; Common characteristics of altered states of consciousness and how these differ from normal waking consciousness; Measurement of physiological responses which can indicate different states of consciousness; Characteristics and patterns of the stages of sleep. |

States of Consciousness: Psychological and physical effects of sleep deprivation and sleep phenomena. |

States of Consciousness: Research designs used to minimise the effects of extraneous variables and ethical principles in the conduct of psychological research related to sleep. |

Exam Format and Revision. |
Part 3 - Week 12: Trial examination paper under strict examination conditions (2 hours)
Students will complete a trial examination paper under strict examination conditions. Upon completion, the trial examination paper will be assessed and immediate feedback will be given on how scores can be improved.
The Physics trial examination paper is written by senior VCE teachers, published authors, VCE assessors and state reviewers with ample experience in setting and marking VCE examinations.

Total Length of Program:
28 hours. Week 1 is held over two days (6 hours) and Weeks 2-12 are 2 hours each (22 hours). Classes will not run during the Easter holiday (term 1) break from March 17 to March 23, 2008.
