William Shakespeare was born in 1564 and lived a comfortable early life with his parents at Stratford-upon-Avon. In 1582, he married Anne Hathaway and they had three children. It is estimated that he arrived in London in 1588 and began to write his plays in 1589. After Henry VI Part 2 (1591) and Rape of Lucrece (1594) were published, Shakespeare acquired wealth and even bought his family a Coat of Arms, but his son died in 1596.
After the death of his father in 1601, Shakespeare returned to Stratford and bought a new home, where he lived until his death in 1616. Between 1604 and 1608, he wrote his great tragedies. The First Folio of Shakespeare’s works were published in 1623, after the death of his wife.
