Our Biology Targeted Evaluation Tasks are written by two dedicated VCE Biology teachers with years of experience, both of whom are Exam Assessors. These tasks are available exclusively to schools and are available in electronic or hardcopy format. A variety of tasks are available for both Units 3 and 4. 

Students are not permitted to order these tasks.

The Biology Targeted Evaluation Tasks are offered to schools copyright free for the restricted use of students of that school only.

TSSM's Targeted Evaluation Tasks are prepared for schools to target the key areas of assessment within the Biology Study Design.  These tasks provide schools with an invaluable resource for assessing the coursework component of the Biology course.  All tasks are supplied with full solutions.

Targeted Evaluation Tasks for Biology have been prepared for both Unit 3 and 4.  The following packages are available to schools:

Unit 3 Package includes 5 tasks -  

Outcome 1 For Area of Study 1 (Two options included):

1. Summary report of a practical activity related to a biochemical process

2. Written report of a practical activity on the movement of substances across membranes

& Outcome 2 for Area of Study 2 (Three options icluded): 

1. Summary report of a plant or animal response to chemical and/or physical stimuli

2. Summary report of a practical activity related to bacteria response to chemical and/or physical stimuli

3. Web page or presntation in multimedia format on one aspect of the immune response

Unit 4 Package includes 4 tasks - 

Outcome 1 For Area of Study 1 (Two options included):

1. Summary report of a practical activity related to a genetic cross using first hand data

2. Summary report of a practical activity on a DNA manipulation technique 

& Outcome 2 for Area of Study 2 (Two options included):

1. Written report that demonstrates evolutionary relationships using first or second hand data 

2. Response to an issue related to an application of gene technologies using a written report

These packages are provided to schools giving teachers a degree of flexibility in the assessment tasks they set for their students.  While TSSM thoroughly checks the accuracy and relevance of these Targeted Evaluation Tasks, prior to assessing students, it is the individual school's responsibility to ensure that these are an appropriate form of assessment.
